Salkota City is located on the northern Salkota spit. It was established by eccentric American author Kennesaw Pendergrass to serve as an artist's retreat. Many of the literary world's most prominent names have spent time in Salkota City, including Jules Verne, Ernest Hemmingway, J.D. Salinger, and Hunter S. Thompson.
