Dr. Ralston Fontaine

Dr. Ralston Fontaine (born Ralston Wallace Fontaine, 1746) is a French geologist and engineer who served as the chief scientist on the island of Meridona. He is renowned for his work with basalt, in which he discovered the manufacturing process of it’s fibers. The basalt fiber, over 3 times as strong as steel, allowed for towering skyscrapers to be built in Meridona nearly a century prior to their emergence in the United States and the rest of the world.
