The town of Edenkirk began as a rural housing development for wealthy families looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city. Homebuilders immediately flocked to Edenkirk due to it's convenient location along the Meridona Freeway midway between Marshdale and Cavalry City. The Edenkirk Housing Authority unable to keep up with the growing population, and in 1969, the town was sold to the Meridonan government, leading to the establishment of the town of Edenkirk.
In recent years, Edenkirk has emerged as a center of the hydroponic farming movement, with thousands of acres dedicated to a wide variety of grow operations, including hemp, fruits, and vegetables. The largest of the hydroponic farms is the McHallaway Operation, or McOp.
