Since it's settlement, Meridona has been home to a thriving and ever-evolving musical culture. From Eastern-European folk to experimental post-rock, the Meridonan music scene has something for everyone, no matter their musical tastes.
"Rags" Teague and the Meridonan Blues
In 1947, an unknown American bluesman by the name of Willie "Rags" Teague spent several months in rural Kaplan Island, outside the city of Rocklodge. His time spent in Meridona inspired the iconic album Salkota Blues, which went on to become one of the best selling albums in the world. Rags made Rocklodge his new home, establishing a blues music scene that blended classic delta blues with the sounds of the island's melting pot culture, leading to a new genre known as the "Meridonan blues". Rags Records was established in Rocklodge in 1952 and continues to independently release albums today.
