Governing Committee

The Governing Committee, or GC, is the legislature of the Meridonan government. It consists of 21 members, 10 appointed by the sagamore and 11 elected officials representing their local districts. The GC oversees Meridona's budget, taxes, national defense, transportation, and healthcare.

Both appointed and elected GC members can be impeached for reasons such as incompetence or legal issues. Since the establishment of the GC, there have been 2 impeachments. Morris Thaman of the 5th District was impeached in 1947 after he was caught in a corruption scandal. In 1978, the 2nd District's Torbin Quinn was implicated in the death of his of wife and quickly impeached following his conviction.
