The arrival of public air travel in the 1960's opened up new opportunities for Meridona in business and tourism. The island is home to two international airports; Charles T. Miranda International in the Alasdairo suburb of Talcana and Calvalry International in Cavalry City, as well as a regional airport, Valhona Islandic.
The island is served by Shearwater Airlines, Meridona's national airline since it's formation in 1992. Created by Jillian Leonov, the daughter of a renowned Russian cosmonaut, Shearwater has risen to become to one of the most innovative airlines in the industry. In 2020, the company plans to open it's first factory where they will design and build their own fixed-wing aircrafts and helicopters.
