1712-1736: Royal Navy Occupation

Following their takeover, the Royal Navy used what was left of Vaillant's city as a strategic post for their operations throughout the Indian Ocean. The post was short-lived, however, as it's remote location made communication and supplying difficult and costly. It quickly fell into disrepair and was largely abandoned after less than 5 years, with only small crews staying behind to operate the lighthouse and make emergency repairs to the occasional British vessel. By 1736, the island was once again abandoned.
